Declan McKenna is an experimental animator based in Portland. He currently works at LAIKA as a Facial Librarian / Replacement Animation Tester.
He graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2021 with a degree in animation and printmaking. His art focuses on materiality, queer identity, and the deconstruction of linear understandings of self.
His work has been shown across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, as well as in Europe (France, Germany, Portugal, Czech Republic), South America (Brazil, Colombia), Asia (Japan, China, India), with future screenings planned.
He has spoken at animation conferences and festivals in New York City, the United Kingdom, Baltimore, Maryland, and Toronto, Canada.
